Part of a group of negatives taken for January 26, 1962, Arkansas Gazette article "Boat Ride on Ouachita Provides Thrills, Data," B1:2. The Corps of Engineers' motor vessel, the Lipscomb, docked at Calion, Union County, Arkansas, on the Ouachita River. Members of the Ouachita River Valley Association are boarding. The Lipscomb, constructed in 1958, is made entirely of steel, 125 feet long, 32 feet wide and draws 9 feet of water. It has two diesel engines, each of 800 horsepower that turn her propellers.
